BACKGROUND
OVERVIEW: May of 2025 an EF3 tornado hit St. Louis with 150 miles per hour winds causing over $1 Billion in damage and destroying over 4,400 buildings. Cara Spencer, St. Louis’ new mayor, called Darling Brand Makery asking if a brand for the City of St. Louis could be created to raise money and encourage partnership to help rebuild the city.
MY TASK: The brief from Cara was that the new brand needed to be hopeful and resolute while referencing the city without relying on the visuals most commonly overused for St. Louis. In under 24 hours, the assignment was handed to me and STLrecovers was created.

The solution I landed on was creating a logomark representing a sapling symbolizing re-growth of not only the buildings that were destroyed but the damage to Forrest Park as well. Along with the design there is also a hint of a Fleur-de-lis for St. Louis’ French background. I also took photos of the peaceful view of Forest Park showcasing how the city could present its new brand.

The circles represent the different areas of St. Louis that got affected by the tornado, all coming together as one for the recovery effort.
Along with the creation of the brand, taglines and file management was also done for the city with naming of the assets and folders for easy access and file management for the 52 assets that were created. The National Guard also put up fence wrapping that I created all around the city for public debris collection sites. There was still a lot to be done for St. Louis to be back where it was, but I am glad that I was able to help my city rally together, to help build each other back up.
